About Laurel Farm

Cares melt away at Laurel Farm. This 7-acre smallholding is a piece of Somerset heaven, where bees buzz from flower to flower, doves nestle in the dovecot and life unfolds at a gentler pace.

Hosts Ross and Emily have lived here for 19 years with their three children and dog, Luna. In that time they’ve planted a two-acre woodland, orchards filled with apples, pears, plums, cherries and walnuts, and created warm, welcoming spaces for all to enjoy. Other residents include free-roaming ducks and hens, and a small flock of Jacob sheep.

The farm includes a beautiful, light space called The Temple that’s ideal for small trainings and retreats. A secluded two-bed Eco Cottage and one-bed Studio are perfect for a tranquil getaway and only just six miles from the Georgian streets and hot springs of Bath.

Counselling and autism coaching with Emily

I’m a certified counsellor and parent autism coach. I bring deep understanding to supporting parents of neurodivergent, anxious or school avoiding
children. I have strong solidarity as we’re raising our own three ND pre/teens and child, (autistic, dyslexic/ ADHD and with sensory processing and anxiety)
I know how hard it can feel - AND that a calmer, happier family life is possible. I start from complete acceptance of each parent, child, family set up. I’ve worked with parents of pre-verbal children from aged 2, to adult children in residential care homes, not yet verbal to very articulate. What lights me up is giving you the tools and confidence to connect deeply
with your child, so they reach their potential, with hope and harmony.

Youth Work and Supervision with Ross

I’m a qualified social worker, counsellor and community worker. What I love most is connecting with and inspiring young people. I’ve worked with
Young people with significant challenges for over 30 years, in UK, Ireland and Central America. I’ve founded & co-founded 8 thriving small schools and educational centres in the UK and Northern Ireland. I now combine my love of the outdoors and farming with
my love of working with children and young people at Laurel Farm.  I use the outdoors as a medium to develop a therapeutic relationship with young
people. Here they have space to connect with nature, recognise their inherent worth and develop their resilience. I also work with the young person’s
family/carers offering them support, as well as coordinating with relevant services and agencies.  This creates a more holistic picture and support.
I also offer supervision and counselling for youth workers, and run advise schools and alternative learning projects as an education consultant.
